Driver / Maintenance

Capone Iron Corporation is in search of a qualified commercial Class A driver to deliver steel products throughout New England. This position will be based out of our Rowley, Massachusetts location with extremely limited to no overnight travel.

The primary responsibilities for this position are as follows:

Perform pre and post trip inspections, and properly secure all loads
Verify loads for accuracy, complete/verify necessary paperwork
Safe and timely delivery of our steel products to customer locations
Preventative and general maintenance of all fleet vehicles
When not driving or maintaining vehicles, assist in varying shop maintenance related tasks
Will be member of the winter season snow removal and building safety team

The following is required in order to be considered for this position:

Clean driving record with a current Class A Commercial Driver’s License
Current Department of Transportation Medical Exam/card
3+ years of experience in the delivery of materials in construction industry
Good communication skills, including the ability to read and speak English fluently
Comfortable with using technology in a paperless environment, including the use of administrative and maintenance related software programs
Quality and safety minded, strong knowledge of current DOT regulations
Must have reliable transportation to work
Able to work in the U.S. without sponsorship
Willing and able to participate in DOT required Random Drug Screening program

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions:

Able to spend duration of shift sitting (driving), standing, walking, performing repetitive actions that include frequent bending, stooping, kneeling, climbing. Able to crouch/squat for post/pre trip inspections, able to enter/exit vehicle without assistance, able to manually maneuver tie-down chains, straps and binders
Able to lift, carry, push and/or pull up to 50 pounds
Able to pass routine DOT physical
Work Environment: Enclosed and well-ventilated environment with often extreme hot or cold temperature conditions. Frequently works outside in extreme hot or cold temperature conditions.
